Summary
Yuuji had turned his fingers into cursed objects, and he decided to live on as a curse.
Why exactly?
Simple: He wanted to help more people with the powers he had been gifted.
The people in his life would've wanted him to live on to the fullest, but considering he was immortal and couldn't age, that was going to take a loooooooong time.
So with a final goodbye to his remaining friends, Itadori initiated a ritual and put his soul into ten distinctive fingers, which he instructed to be put in shrines across Japan. His body was buried with respect, and Itadori walked away from the life he knew while his perception went dark for eons.
Then, a boy in 3018 stumbled upon the ruins of the modern world and found a small box that had the finger labeled in a language no longer recognized, and out of curiosity about the contents, the boy ate it.
And all of a sudden, a second voice spoke within the depths of his mind, kind and comforting in contrast to who the boy was in his past life.
"Hey...nice to meet you."
And the boy remembered.

Giyuu stared at the screen, waiting for it to load. When the vibrant colors of the game illuminated his face, he couldn’t help but stare in awe. No matter how many times he logged in, the animations and design never failed to impress him.
Dragging his mouse across the interface, he landed on the button labeled “Chat Room.” He scrolled through the ranks and teams before pausing on the one he was searching for: “Hashira.”
He entered the chat room, scanning the list of online players. A smile broke across his face when he spotted a familiar name.
“Kazenemi.”
It was Sanemi—the player he teamed up with most often. The one who made his heart skip beats more than any trill of a boss fight ever could.
Giyuu typed a quick greeting, announcing his presence.
Mizuyuu: hey guys, ready to play? :)

There were no perfectly circular holes in his body, oozing with lazy streams of blood. Not even one scar left to indicate that it had even happened.
"I could ask you the same thing." He looks away, shifting his gaze back to the curls of steam coming from the waters edge.
In his peripheral, Genya gives him a curt look. "You're shit at deflecting, you know."
A breath blows from Tanjirou's nose, its company being an unhappy smile. "Habit."
"Why? ain't got no one else?"
"No, I…" Tanjirou floundered, searching for the words in a mind that seemed too heavy. A lesson buried underneath a thick sludge of red. "I am an older brother."
A sharp inhale to his right, Genya's head facing forward and the obscurity of the darkness.
"Ah," he said, like it made all the sense in the world.
