Katsuki suddenly let out a groan of pure frustration. Izuku felt the force of it in his chest like a wrecking ball. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” Katsuki knew exactly what was happening. He wasn’t happy. He turned to the small kid talking to his mom. “Did you use your damn quirk again?”
Shoko gave them both a sheepish smile. “Sorry!”
Kacchan ran a hand down his face. “I don’t want–” Katsuki’s mouth snapped shut. He seemed to be having a fight with himself just to open his mouth. After a few seconds he gave up. “What the hell was that?”

Spring had officially sprung in Los Angeles, and baby fever infects one of LA’s finest, one firefighter Eddie Diaz.
He couldn’t stop thinking about having a kid with Buck if he tried, and maybe the universe doesn’t want him to based on the countless cute babies that keep winding up in his big arms.
Not that he believes in that kinda thing.
But he can’t tell Buck that, he could never ask him to leave work for nearly a year, so soon after he literally lost his mind. So he does the normal thing and keeps it in the same mental lock box he used to keep his feelings for Buck in.
Meanwhile, somethings up with two out of three of Bobby’s kids and he needs to get to the bottom of it.
(AKA the 6A rewrite where Buck is pregnant instead of doing that donor storyline, now fully complete + epilogue)

Summary
If he’s honest, Eddie gets why Buck filed the lawsuit.
He does. He understands the hopelessness, the feeling you’re losing all control, like you’re sinking, drowning, desperate for a way out. He knows because it’s the same way he felt when he enlisted.
That doesn’t mean it hurts any less when Buck leaves him, though.
(Basically 8,000 words of Eddie working through his abandonment/communication/intimacy issues and building a strong, healthy relationship with Buck, because it's what he deserves.)

Eddie rolls his eyes and goes back to typing his message to Chris. “Was he? I didn’t even notice.”
“Mhm,” Hen says as she watches Eddie tapping at his phone. “He had that nice blonde hair, and those beautiful big brown eyes and–”
“Blue,” Eddie corrects before snapping his head up to see Hen smirking at him. His face burns bright red. “Okay, yes, he was attractive. Happy now?”

Eddie nodded for him to go on, Buck already reaching to tap the correct buttons.
“How about two taps means: ‘I’m safe’.”
Buck tapped his bracelet twice, the two of them watching in awe as Eddie’s lit up, vibrating where it lay over his wrist. He watched as Eddie visibly shivered; he couldn’t be sure if it was due to the magic of the bracelets, or Eddie’s fear of technology—maybe a little of both.
Buck cleared his throat, ducking his head a little as he continued.
“And maybe, we could use—4 taps to say: ‘I’m hurt, but ok’.”
Eddie looked up to him then, raising a brow.“How many taps do we need for, ‘my best friend is a dumbass and did something stupid again, and I’m not there to have his back’?”
Buck deadpanned.
“Well, that would be nineteen, to be exact.”

Buck buys him and Eddie touch bracelets, not wanting either of them to feel disconnected after Eddie leaves. They help, but the real thing is still better.

This is when he realizes he should’ve thought his plan through a little more. Because he’s serenading his friends one by one with a song about wanting to get married, and the only person left to sing to is Eddie. And listen, if Buck has thought about having matching rings with Eddie once or twice or five hundred times, that’s his business. If Eddie got down on one knee right now, he’d be all in. But he knows they’re going slow (hell, they aren’t even in a relationship yet), and he doesn’t want to make Eddie feel uncomfortable, even if he’s just joking around. But before he can worry too much, Eddie is giving him a look that sends a shiver down his spine. So he throws caution to the wind.
Or, Buck spends all summer intentionally embarrassing himself by serenading Eddie with songs, Eddie is undone by it and wants to repay the favor.

Which - okay, sure, he’s oblivious about certain things even on the best of days, and he got struck by lightning less than a month ago, so maybe he should give himself a break.
